Marriage Enrichment : Celebrate Love. The Aquinas Academy. An adult education centre, 141 Harrington St, Sydney, runs a series of programs, day and evening, with a special emphasis on spirituality. Refugee Week. Refugee Week is 7-13 October. It aims to raise awareness of refugees in Australia. The Eastern Suburbs community is invited to plan this year's local celebration. If you want to be involved, call 9663 3922.
Phone Cards for Refugees. Phone cards, the lifeline of those detained in our Detention Centres, are urgently needed. Without phone cards, detainees are very isolated. Please help by sending your donation to: NSW Ecumenical Council, Locked Bag 199, Sydney 1230. Your donation will enable detainees to communicate with their lawyers, Refugee Fieldworkers and relatives overseas.
Volunteer Migrant Tutors Needed. If you are interested in tutoring English to migrants in their own home, for an hour each week, please contact the Parramatta office of Mission Australia on 9635 1543. Volunteers will receive full VETAB accredited training and will be asked to commit themselves to 6 months tutoring.
Catholic Youth Services. Catholic Youth Services (CYS) is the Sydney Archdiocesan agency for the development of the faith in young people. Working directly to Archbishop Pell, we endeavour to serve the parishes and youth of the Sydney Archdiocese by providing events, talks, youth ministry training, retreats, pilgrimages such as World Youth Day, and particularly by helping parishes and youth leaders develop effective youth groups.
